The Chief and elders from Sanzule in Nzema East District in the Western Region have paid a courtesy call on President Akufo-Addo and extend invitation to him for their upcoming ‘Ayikese’ an occasion in remembrance of all the departed chiefs and other individuals who have fought hard to build the community.
At their meeting with the President, the Benkumhene of Nzema East District Nana Asafo Boakye III , said the occasion will also be used to honour departed chiefs of the land.
According to him, the celebration of these chiefs is long overdue, but the time has come for them to recognize the great contributions each of the chiefs made for the land.
He said, the town is not dead but alive and that is by the work of chiefs who passed away and left a legacy for the generations to continue and that there is reason for the new generation to carry out a befitting ceremony in their honour.
The chief also extended formal invitation to the President, Nana Akufo-Addo to be part of the ceremony and also use the opportunity to visit and familiarize with the people.
He said, the people of the area has therefore set aside the 23rd February through to the 4th of March, 2017 for the festivities and expressed the hope that, it will be a memorable occasion.
The chief also said, the occasion will be used to drum home the importance of the Unity of Ghana, peace and stability in achieving growth and Prosperity.
According to him, Ghana needs peace to develop and that the people must endeavor to support the ruling government in achieving its vision and objectives so as to ensure the growth of the economy and the nation at large.
On his part, the President, Nana Akufo Addo thanked the chief and people for the invitation and indicated that, it is important for communities and lands all over to recognize the roles played by their forefathers who suffered, toiled and fought for the land.
He commended the people of the area for the initiative taken to honour their heroes and promised them of his attendance.
He also used the opportunity to stress his government’s resolve to grow the economy, create jobs and build factories in each District to enhance the economic activities and build a strong economy.
Meanwhile, Sanzule as a community is the only town chosen to host the ENI Vittol gas compression plant which is to possibly facilitate production of natural gas for production of electricity in Ghana.
