A 26-year-old taxi driver had been busted by the Police, for the murder of his girlfriend at Aplaku near Weija in the Ga South municipality.
Emmanuel Nii Allotey, was reported to have assaulted the deceased, Esi Acquah, 26, a trader when she visited his former boyfriend.
The suspect and deceased are said to be living together for the past seven months.
The Weija District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Stephen Billy Addom told The Ghanaian Times in Accra yesterday, that the suspect is in the custody of the police, assisting in investigations.
He said at about 2:05am on March 29, Allotey reported to the police that his girlfriend (deceased) returned from town unconscious.
ASP Addom stated that Allotey told the police he rushed Esi to the Ga South Municipal Assembly, but died on arrival.
He said inspection on the body at the hospital revealed marks of assault all over her body.
ASP stated that investigations revealed that on that fateful day, the deceased visited her ex-boyfriend, and police suspect Allotey assaulted the deceased.
ASP Addom stated that during investigations, it came to light that Allotey had constantly been assaulting the deceased over the least provocation.
He said the suspect would be put before court soon.
