The woman who was assaulted by a police officer at the Shiashie branch of Midland Savings and Loans, has spoken about the incident.
The incident occurred on Thursday, July 19, 2018.
Patience Osafo, who disclosed that the baby she was carrying was her grandchild, indicated that she went to Midland to collect her money; an amount of GHC270 which she had been 'chasing' for a while to no avail.
A mother of two and 36 years of age, Patience Osafo told UTV's Agya Kwabena that her firstborn is a girl who is 17 years old and the second one is 9 years old.
Her 17-year-old daughter is also epileptic
Her firstborn, the epileptic girl, was raped at the age of 16 and the baby she was holding in the video is her grandchild, who is about 2 months and some weeks old.
According to her, she is a petty trader who sells candies at Spanner (the footbridge at the Accra Mall) and started saving with the Midland Savings and Loans two months ago, with hopes of getting a loan from them in the future to be able to expand her business.
She was sharing her story in an exclusive interview on UTV Friday night.

This is the Hour and moment of Truth. When you throw a Stone to the Wall, it comes back to hit you. I blame this unprofessional Policing on NDC and NPP Politicians. Who used their so-called unholy Protocol to push their uncivilized and uneducated Foot-Soldiers To Public Institutions like the: Military, Police, Fire Service, Immigration Customs etc, etc. I think the best solution is, all this Service personnel need to go back to Training. To learn everything all over again, to avoid future calamity like this. If not, the worse and unexpected is yet to come. Mark my word.
PLEASE LET US ALL CONTRIBUTE TO SUPPORT THE BABY AND THE WOMAN FOR A BETTER FUTURE. PEACEFM PLS TAKE THE LEAD...OPEN AN ACCOUNT NATIONWIDE FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC TO HELP THIS COURSE.
I aam so much TOUCHED BY THIS WOMAN'S STORY. Can we have a SOCIAL WAREFARE FOR SUCH??
Hello Ghanaians. Please my humble plea to the IGP and the Police Hierarchy is to punish their surbodinate BUT NOT to sack him. He should have exercised professional restraint. Let's note that the IGP's level of professional self-restraint is way above that of a Constable. We should not pretend that we do not know our society and that he was certainly provoked, obviously he 'lost it'. As for the BANK, the least said about them the better. Mr. President, Nana Addo, indegenous or not, kindly allow the Bank of Ghana to crack the banking-whip, Period. However, fellow Ghanaians, what do we also have to say to the woman? Kindly watch the video again, because I ALSO saw 'a woman who was hanging a baby on her hands and ACTIVELY FIGHTING with an armed policeman. When we have all calmed down with our reactions, kindly let's have some useful advice for the woman. By her action of fighting back an armed policeman, she as well, was responsible in putting the baby in HARMs way. But really, what we saw and some of the reactions we have got, including some emotive responses from officialdom, by following the crowd, I think we are only seeing our reflection of the level of discipline in our society. Question - as a society, under what circumstance do we approve for anyone with a baby hanging on his/her hand to fight back a uniformed officer of the state?
Those saying 'the bank should be closed'-should rather be asking the IGP to resign, or the Ghana police service to be closd down. The man was acting in the interest or representing the state as a policeman. He was trained by the government not the bank. The bank did nothing wrong.
Even though i sympathize with the Woman who was assaulted, I am very shock at the reaction of the general public over the police man beating a Woman caught on camera. If people have forgotten, the Police have a clause in their laws of "APPLYING MINIMUM FORCE " where one refuses to obey the direction of the police. Was the police man not only applying the minimum force? Is that not the understanding of the minimum force? As far as i am concern, Most of our policemen beat people like this and hide under the cover of Applying minimum force. Let us face it, we are pretending that this is the first time a policeman has beaten someone like that? Shame on you all hypocrites.
In America there is no policeman at the bank, even at night when the bank is closed no policeman guards it. Africans cannot behave until they see security or police.
This policeman man needs to be DISMISSED,The Bank too must be Closed down, and to those Policemen Guarding the Banks,we will be carrying weapons with us when coming to the Bank,If you ***barred word***,we will let you know we were born ***barred word***...Animals in Uniforms.
oo much. It is because of the connectioned entries. Undeserving people sooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrr. No passion, no love, nothing.. . . . . . . They project their pressure on their victims.
