The Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV, has appealed to President Akufo-Addo to fulfill his promises of fixing deplorable roads in the Volta Region without delay.
According to him, most of the roads, particularly the Ho-Accra Road, Ho-Aflao Road and the Eastern Corridor Road, which pose risk to travellers, require urgent attention.
Speaking at the grand durbar at this year’s Asogli Teza (Yam Festival), Togbe Afede emphasized that the construction of the roads was non-negotiable and urged government to immediately construct them.
The festival, which was on the theme, “Uniting for the Cause of Asogli, Volta and Ghana,” was also used to commemorate the 15th anniversary of enstoolment of Togbe Afede.
Togbe Afede, who is also the President of the National House of Chiefs, reiterated his commitment to helping government to develop the country to alleviate poverty and suffering.
To this end, he announced that for the next five years, he would commit resources towards the noble fight against poverty, deprivation and suffering of the majority of Ghanaians.
He called for the support of all and sundry.
Volta Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Yao Letsa lauded Togbe’s decision to support government and urged the people in the region and the country to back the policies and programmes of government.
He said that government was on track and that soon they would fully benefit from programmes and policies like free SHS, ‘One District, One Factory,’ ‘Planting for Food and Jobs,’ ‘One District, One Dam,’ One District, One Warehouse, among others.
Ho-Accra Road, Ho-Aflao Road, as well as the Eastern Corridor Road, are important to the people of the region.
The Ho-Accra Road, for instance, is the main road that ushers travelers to Ho, the regional capital in the Asogli State.
Residents have over years been complaining about the bad road.
The 10.5 kilometer Road from Sokode-Gbogame to Ho Central and from Sokode-Etoe through to the University of Health and Allied Sciences to join the Ho-Aflao Highway at Titrinu, near the Ho Aerodrome, has received little attention despite several promises by the Regional Minister Dr Letsa.
The GH¢126 million road project, which has been divided into two, had been awarded to China Railways and First Sky Construction Companies.
The Ho-Aflao Highway, which connects the regional capital to Ghana’s main Eastern borders-Aflao and Akanu, has several potholes.
The President recently complained about the deplorable Eastern Corridor, which links the south to the north of the country.

MR CHIEF IF YOU WORK @ PWD, YOU COLLECT YOUR PAY @ PWD. YOU VOTED AND HAVE BEEN VOTING FOR NDC OVER THE YEARS WHY DIDNT YOU ASK THEM TO FIX YIOUR ROADS? LEAVE NANA ADDO AND NPP ALONE. THEY WILL SERVICE THE PEOPLE WHO STOOD BEHIND HIM AND HIS PARTY. THE ASHANTI REGION WILL GET ITS SHARE FIRST, BEEN THE "WORLD BANK" OF NPP. STOP BEEN A HEPOCRETE!
Some ghanaians are quick to jump, when people talk about development in the country. That's why I say, most Ghanaians are still behind hundred years of civilization even though they've been to school, they simply do not have wisdom, that is why Ghana is as it is, some people are so blind that it will take another hundred year for their eyes to open. I must admit that most Ghanaians are dump to the core. just listen to what these people talk when it comes to development issues. This is a disgrace to our nation.
Togbe Afede, where is the money to fix your roads for you? Your NDC has ruled Ghana for a good 27 years since 1979 and out of that your friend JJ Rawlings alone ruled for 19 years and he didn't fix your roads for you? Your region always votes for the NDC so wait till NDC comes back to power to fix your roads for you. If I'm the President, I'll first of all fix roads in areas that vote for my party to reward them.
When Atta Mills and NDC came to power in 2009, this chief pontificated that, the Volta Region has now got their government. That they suffered under Kufour and NPP. I cannot understand this chief today. Show us what the NDC did for the Volta Region between 2009 and 2016 and Akufo-Addo and the NPP will continue from there. You get rich, sojourn in Accra and invade your region during elections to confuse your own people to vote for the NDC. Akufo-Addo will do it at the convenient time. You cannot stampede him. After all, you will never vote for the NPP, good or bad. The sun will shine on those who stand before it shines on those whokneel! vote NDC. Because of your personal selfish interests. You don't give your people the independence of mind to vote for whatever party they think can help them.
I don't always feel like insulting others or commenting on other people's comments. However, it becomes unbearable when others think that they have the power to insult others. If for centuries people have voted in a b*iased manner there can be no region so b*ias like the Ashanti Region. yet governments upon governments have committed more resources in the Ashanti Region than other regions that voted based on issues and not tribal lines. John Dramani Mahama (JDM) even though never got any reasonable votes from the Ashanti Region but I can say he (JDM) committed more resources in the Ashanti Region more than even Former President John Agyekum Kuffor unless I can be proved to the contrary. Lets all learn to vote on issues and stop such triba*lis*tic voting habit's
I thought we vote for development projects to take place in our various regions. The Volta Region have voted NDC in a very discriminatory way since the days of Adam. Did the deterioration take place 2 years ago? Where was this Chief when John Mahama was in power. The country belongs to all of us but if I were in position of authority, it will take a long time for this particular to be developed. Where are the Okudzeto Ablakwahs, Fiifi Kweteys etc.
Ho is not the regional capital in the Asogli State..... There is no region in Ghana called Asogli state..... This small chief must wait when his ndc ever comes back to power they will fix the road for them........ Nana Addo did not promise the region he will fix their roads... you never vote for the NPP......
your N D C didn't fix it for so many years not just two years can fix
