NATION BUILDERS Corps (NABCO) trainees who intend to engage in the practice of double payment as a result of being on other government engagements simultaneously would be checked out of the programme.

Also, government employees who resigned from their posts within the month of October due to their engagement with NABCO would also be captured and checked out of the system pending clarification from their district coordinators.

A member of the NABCO operating team, Bowan Mubarak, gave the warning when he announced that trainees would receive their first allowance this November despite not actively being engaged within the month.

He indicated that biometric data of trainees would be used diligently in ensuring that the trainees do not steal from the system.

However, he hinted the likely hitches that may delay the payment process due to the regularization of the payment process.

He was speaking at an orientation session held in Accra on Monday for some 300 NABCO trainees within the Greater Accra Region under the Digitize Ghana Module.

The programme was organised by the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), a leading implementing partner of NABCO under the Digitize Ghana Module that has 1,487 beneficiaries.

The orientation was focused on GIFEC mandate, summary of strategic plans, values, expected role of trainees and area of collaboration and partnership.

Mr. Mubarak also indicated that there would be a quarterly monitoring and evaluation of trainees that would require physical contact hours.

He encouraged trainees not to wait till their final year to disengage from the programme as government was willing to support the youth with packages that would help them start up on their own.

“If you have any idea, don’t hesitate to come to us as government is ready to support you to start on your own,” he assured them.

For his part, the Administrator of GIFEC, Kofi Asante, expressed optimism over the engagement of graduates to help GIFEC achieve its mandate of spreading Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) to various communities across the country.

Beneficiaries are to support operations of GIFEC projects such as Community Information Centres, School Connectivity, Digital Financial Inclusion, Smart Community Initiative, and Universal Access to Telephony, among others.

Mr. Asante urged trainees whom he described as extension of the Ministry of Communications to uphold good values that are critical for productive effort.

“As nation builders, lets us pledge to work hard with other implementing agencies to move beyond rhetoric and take action to improve the quality of lives of Ghanaians” he stated.

NABCO is an initiative of government to address graduate unemployment using seven modules. Of such module is the ‘Digitize Ghana’ which is a cross-cutting module that provides a converging ICT solution to most of government programmes and initiatives.

These programmes include, the National Identification Scheme, Digital Addresses System, Land Title and Land Administration, Archival and Digitization at Registrar-Generals Department, Birth and Death Registry and Passport Application Centres.
