The National Population Council in collaboration with the Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG) has instituted an award scheme for journalists.
The Population and Development Journalists’ Award which will be held annually, focuses on journalists who write or report feature stories on Sexual Reproductive Health and Right (SRHR) issues as well as population.
Speaking to Peacefmonline.com after a media workshop, Friday, Mr Archibald Adams, Advocacy Coordinator, PPAG said the award was established to encourage journalists who work in the area of population and development: SRHR issues, accessing of comprehensive sexual education by adolescents, humanitarian services, access to family planning, helping to demystify the stigma around sexual education and so on.
Meanwhile, the door has been opened for journalists interested to forward their articles, audio or video reports published between 1st January and 30th November, 2018 to PPAG.
The maiden award will be held on 11th July, 2019.

PPAG is a leading, volunteer supported, grass-root based, non-partisan and rights-based CSO working in the field of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in Ghana. PPAG was established in March 1967 and affiliated to the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).
Through its vibrant and well experienced volunteers and staff, PPAG works to complement government’s efforts in the provision of SRHR information and services to the general population particularly adolescents, men, women and vulnerable groups including Persons living with Disability.
