Circumstances surrounding the gruesome killing of Ahmed Hussein-Suale are unraveling.
It has emerged that Ahmed, a member of the Tiger Eye PI, was reportedly living in fear until he was shot and killed a few metres from his house at Madina in Accra on Wednesday night by two unidentified men.
The Committee to Project Journalists (CPJ), an independent non-profit organization that promotes press freedom worldwide, in a report on its website claimed Ahmed, in September last year, expressed fear that “powerful figures in Ghana sought to harm him.”
The late Ahmed is reported to have told the organization via WhatsApp that “since my image was published and [the] public was incited against me, many people have attempted to attack me.”
More Condemnation
President Akufo-Addo, Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) and many others have all condemned the gruesome murder of Ahmed.
In a short message, President Akufo-Addo unreservedly condemned the ghastly murder of the undercover journalist, whose last assignment was said to be the #Number12.
He called on the police “to bring to book as soon as possible the perpetrators of this heinous crime.”
Commiserating with the family of the deceased, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), through its General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia, said: “This heinous crime has shaken the media fraternity in Ghana to the core and has the potential to reverse the gains we have made in the promotion of press freedom.”
The party added its voice to the clarion calls for the speedy apprehension and prosecution of the perpetrators of the dastardly act.
The party, however, cautioned against public demand for the arrest of Kennedy Agyapong, NPP Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central.
“While taking a serious view of his outrageous call for the assault of the late journalist and agreeing in principle with his questioning for possible involvement in this crime, we caution against the mere scapegoating of Mr Agyapong as a ruse to cover up a potentially more sinister plot behind this killing.”
Eyewitness Account
A witness claimed the two men alleged to have committed the crime were at the deceased’s premises for hours before the incident.
He averred that the culprits – one tall and the other short – loitered around the vicinity till about 10pm when they attacked and killed Ahmed while he was driving out of his family home at Madina.
“When they saw that he had entered his car, the tall one said to the short one ‘give it to me’ and then he shot him,” the resident said.
He further indicated that Ahmed, in his bid to move away from the killer, drove the car into a hairdresser’s salon just across the street.
“The other man who had hidden behind an electricity pole then followed and gave him two more shots before jumping on the motorbike and they sped off,” he added.
He said attempts by residents to chase the culprits proved futile as no vehicle was willing to go on the hunt for the killers.
“We went into the house to get people to take Ahmed to the hospital but he died in his car,” he narrated.
Brother of the late Ahmed, Ibrahim Kamal, told the media that the family was awaiting an autopsy report from the police.
The late Ahmed was buried at the Madina Cemetery yesterday.

Why should you live in fear IF YOU HAVEN'T COMMITTED ANY CRIME? THE MOMENT ANYBODY LIVES IN FEAR MEANS THAT THEY HAVE DONE SOMETHING WRONG OR BAD. is it everyone in Ghana who lives in fear? It is when you do evil that evil will follow you and make u live in fear. Ahmed destroyed families, his victims found it difficult to pay their kids fees, his victims suffered various forms of diseases as a result of stigmatization, some are even dead because of increased blood pressure. What baffles me the most is that these victims never initiated the wrongs. It was Anas, Ahmed and their team who set them up. They initiated those crimes and later they will make money from the sufferings of others by selling documentaries to BBC and aljazeera.what a world we live in. I really respected and admired KWEKU BAAKO, HE WAS MY ROLE MODEL, MY MENTOR, MY EVERYTHING, but when he decided to defend Anas I became worried because Baako has always stood for the truth. I KNOW DEEP WITHIN HIMSELF HE DISAPPROVES OF THE MODUS OPERANDI OF ANAS BUT HE CANT LET THE CAT OUT OF THE BAG. HIS DEFENCE FOR THE GUY AT TIMES IS SOO PATHETIC THAT BAAKO WILL STOOP TOO LOW TO SAY THINGS IN HIS DEFENCE FOR ANAS .ITS REALLY SAD.
Osonoba, You are a prime demonstration of how shallow minded Ghanaians truly are. None of your statements make logical sense. Your arguments are purely ad hominem, and lack evidentiary support. Your line of thinking is tortuous, at best and I have difficulty understanding how you can consider your self qualified to speak on the subject. You are a reflection of what Ghana represents in the current era; greed, insolence, incompetence, and a dubious claim to entitlement. While other nations make great advances in science, technology and governance, your kind are quite satisfied with dancing in your own little tea cups as the rest of the country descends into social anarchy. If you loved your country, you would have oriented your thinking in directions that are compatible with unity in strength rather than divisiveness. You, sir, are an ***barred word***!
Ghanaians are shallow minded people. Anas should be in police custody by now. If it is true that Anas and the boy has fallen out then there is a reason to kill the guy. If Anas and his boys can reveal the identity of unsuspecting people, why can’t somebody also expose the identity of Anas if he is found to be corrupt. Kwaku Baako should come out to defend his boy Anas this time if not then Anas will be in serious trouble. That will be a prove that Anas is guilty of the boy”s murder. This tiger eye group are anti Akan. They are there to destroy any Akan person and leave the north ears out. Who is more corrupt than Mahama?
He was living in fear because his identity have been revealed by this man called Kennedy.
