The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante Akyem North Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Andy Appiah Kubi, has debunked allegations that government is shifting its attention from the on-going Menzgold saga.
The MP who doubles as the Deputy Railway Minister stated this when responding to assertions by the Minority Spokesperson on the Finance Commitee, Cassiel Atto Forson, earlier in the week that the NPP government for failing to come to the rescue of the aggrieved customers of the embattled gold dealership firm, Menzgold, but the revered legislator thinks the pronouncements of the minority are flawed and a cheap means of gaining popularity.
Speaking to Adom News, Appiah Kubi stated the government warned these customers of Menzgold to stop investing with the gold dealership firm but all those calls fell on deaf ears.
“The Bank of Ghana (BoG) and the Securities and Exchanges Commission (SEC), on numerous occasions, warned customers of MenzGold, it was not a licensed deposit or asset management company but Its customers explained they were not in a deposit business or asset taking, but was a gold trading firm.”
However, Mr Appiah Kubi emphasized he is positive all those involved in this fiasco will be brought to book.
“No accomplice in this Menzgold saga will go scot free”. The Nana Addo led government will see to the end of this very issue and ensure that customers will have something to cheer about. We won’t sit aloof and see the masses suffer whiles a few enjoy”, he added.
To this end, he assured all Ghanaians to keep their fingers crossed as the NPP government will work assiduously to get the right things done with respect to this issue.

You were the same people insulting the government each time they issued a statement warning people about Menzgold. You said you stood by NAM 1. What has stopped you from standing by him and now trying to blame the government? And sure, there is more to the Menzgold saga than meets the eye, because he was giving 100% interest in a system where most investors could not even get 10%
Why should we keep focusing on the Menzgold story? Why? Don't we have other issues going on in the country? Are they the only Ghanaians who have lost money in investments? Every day we read stories of people defrauding others to the tune of millions of cedis. Do we ask the government to chase the fraudsters, or pay those who were defrauded? If you think that someone has defrauded you, report to the police, and let the law take its course. Trying to drag the government into this is fruitless, though the NDC is hoping to gain some political capital out of this.
It is so annoying the way this Government is protecting NAM 1 and his frauduIent b00ty. Instead of doing the right thing by arresting the CEO, Directors and Managers of the company and make them face the law, they always hide behind the flawed BoG warned Menzgold customers mantra to let NAM 1 and his cohorts off the hook. This clearly confirm the assertion that there is more to the Menzgold saga than meets the eye. This we warned them scripture will not save the face of Government of what we know. Time will tell
