NPP’s first Vice Chairman of Asokwa constituency, Edmund Kyei has hinted that a whopping three thousand Ghanaians are likely to be sacked from the Tema port.
According to him, an alleged contract signed by the then Mahama-led government with Meridian Port Service will cost the country if not terminated by the incumbent.
“In 2015, Ghana Government led by Elder Ofosu-Ampofo now NDC National Chairman and the then Chairman of the Ghana Ports and Habors Authority board signed an agreement with the Meridian Port Service (MPS) which was established in 2002,” he said.
“The ultimate purpose of the deal was to expand the port to a higher status, but investigations into this said contract bring to light very disturbing terms which will definitely bring Ghana to its knees,” Edmund Kyei alleged during a political discourse in Amsterdam, April 14, 2019.
He also made it clear how “MPs will monopolize the port activities in few years to come if this contract is not reviewed.”
“The commencement of this project would automatically result in over three thousand (3,000) innocent Ghanaians losing their jobs at the Tema port and over 2 billion dollars loss in revenue to our beloved country over the 35 years period this project will span, aside the huge additional tax waiver approved under this contract hence making this agreement reckless and insensitive,” he said.
He reiterates the unbearable economic and social consequences this agreement would bring to Ghanaians.
According to him, the contract is expected to kick start this year, June 2019 and span over the next 35 years.
The NPP man however called on President Akufo- Addo to review the “shoddy contract and relief the good people from the shackles of bad governance and mismanagement before the project commence.”
According to him, “Former President Mahama and the NDC have over the years shown by their actions how poor they managed our country's resources and economy. Never Again Ex President Mahama, you are not an option for Ghanaians.”

THIS IS WHY GHANAIAN'S WILL CONTINUE TO SUFFER IN RETROGRESSION OTHER THAN PROGRESSING. ITS UNBELIEVABLE THAT SOME CONTINUE TO GALVANIZE ON BEHALF OF MAHAMA AFTER ALL HE DID TO THE COUNTRY? GHANA DOES NOT BELONG TO MAHAMA AND HIS FAMILY ALONE.LOOK AT WHAT HIS BROTHER DID TO MERCHANT BANK.OVER 300 MILLION CEDIS LOAN HE TOOK FROM ANOTHER BANK WITHOUT PAYING ALL BECAUSE HE IS THE BROTHER OF THE PRESIDENT.ONLY IN GHANA AND YET PEOPLE ARE CASTING INSINUATIONS BECAUSE ITS CONNECTED TO NDC AND MAHAMA SHOULD THE WHOLE COUNTRY GO ON OUR KNEES BECAUSE OF MAHAMA AND NDC? NEVER AGAIN WILL THIS DIABOLICAL EVIL PARTY NDC COME TO POWER AGAIN.IF GHANAIANS THINK NPP IS NOT TRUSTWORTHY THERE ARE OTHER POLITICAL PARTIES TO VOTE FOR BUT NOT NDC NEVER EVER AGAIN.
Npp should stop all those loose talk. If mahama signed that contract like we will here before he leaves. Npp is found of propaganda and selling state property.why are the npp administration selling the whole international airport to a private partner?. Security zone
Now NPP should be careful. People are getting tired of the blame game. Ones someone talk about Syno Hydro, someone from NPP plants this kind of story in the press. The government needs to be careful now else they will lose the election basaa. You lack infrastructural development but you complain about contracts signed long ago when indeed your MPs were in parliament when those contracts were signed. Please bring the development as the talk is becoming too much. The moment i heard Kwaku Baako saying that the govt is using the first two years to repair the tattered economy that is why people are not seeing anything, it proved to me that this lack of development has been discussed in govt circles.
For Christ sake, Mahama has been out since Dec 2016 & NPP for lack for productivity still blaming everything on him. In any case why don't NPP provide documentary evidence on all these Mahama Gov't allegations? Also if all these illegal activities exist why is SP Martin Amidu still ideal
Asokwa Port? which one? Bushman talking rubbish
Still giving excuses about what Madama did and din not do? Man, give me the next joke. It's now sounding awkward.
Aluta you can do better. For once put the interest of the ordinary Ghanaian first and not the politician. Look for the DG of GPHA and let him brief you on exactly what the NDC has done with our ports.
AAH some Asokwa bushman telling us about ports contract. Anokwa
THE NPP GOVERNMENT IS FREE TO TERMINATE ANY CONTRACT ENTERED INTO BY THE JOHN MAHAMA ADMINISTRATION. WE KNOW WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT. EVERY GHANAIAN KNOWS IT IS NOT ABOUT IMPROPRIETY ON THE PART OF THE NDC ADMINISTRATION BUT MERE 10% (TEN PERCENT) KICK-BACKS THAT THE NPP GOVERNMENT THINK THEY MUST JUST GET FROM THESE CONTRACTS. LET THE NPP KNOW THAT WE ARE NOT KIDS IN THIS COUNTRY. BUT THE NDC KNOWS BETTER WHAT IS GOOD FOR GHANIANS AND GHANAIANS EQUALLY KNOW THAT TOO.
