On the occasion of International Dance Day which is being commemorated, Members of Parliament have urged the public to show interest in dancing and at least learn their traditional dance as dancing promotes harmony and peace in society.
The Member of Parliament for Sissala East, Hon. Ridwan Dauda Abass raised the issue in a statement he made in Parliament today on International Dance Day.
He said dancing is a good exercise that all must learn to engage in.
He called on government to ensure allocation of adequate resources for the National Theater to effectively promote dancing in the country .
Contributing to the statement, the Minority Leader, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu urged his colleague MPs to learn how to dance in order to make them culturally responsive .
The former Minister for Tourism and MP for Evalue Ajomoro Gwira, Hon Catherine Afeku called for more attention to dancing in order to help create jobs for people apart from deriving health and social benefits from it.
