The Head of Supply Chain for Aker Energy Ghana Limited, Edward Owusu-Manu says Ghana has "done so well" in the oil and gas industry decade after the country started its commercial.

According to him, the industry has revamped the country's econimic development over the years.

Speaking at Aker Energy's Suppliers' Conference aimed at explaining the company's tender process for its upcoming Drilling and Wells contract, Mr Edward Owusu-Manu stated that the progress after the oil drill legislative implementation in 2014 and subsequent legislation has aided in the very significant rise of Ghana's oil and gas industry.

He explained that a lot of Ghanaian companies now do not only provide services within the country but provide services in other West African countries. He also emphasised the improvement in terms of human resources and capital.

Mr Edward Owusu-Manu, however, mentioned the high-interest rates on loans for the local companies and also inadequate skills and resource persons as some of the challenges the oil industry faces.

"Aker Energy seeks to become the leading offshore and gas operator in Ghana by producing reserves in an efficient, safe and reliable manner." He said after advising the SME suppliers to partner with big companies to build their capacity in winning the tender.
