Minister of Education, Matthew Opoku Prempeh has disclosed that the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) has released the results of 74.10 percent of candidates to be automatically placed.

According to him, those candidates numbering 251,022 out of the qualified 473,728 candidates to be placed in the various Senior High Schools have been placed in one of their first three choices they made.

Briefing the media on Thursday at the conference room of the Ministry of Information, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh hinted that the choices of the candidates were made before, during and after the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) under the supervision of their parents, headteachers, and school teachers.

“So, 74.10 percent of the students were automatically placed on the mid-night of 8th of September in secondary schools,” he stated.

He added that there are 721 Senior High Schools available for students to select from; thus, the Heads of Schools declared 530, 298 vacancies in the various secondary schools in the country.

Meanwhile, the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC), according to the Education Minister released BECE results of 512, 083 students; explaining that if all the students pass their exams, they could be placed in schools without any problem.

“ . . but out of the 512,083 WAEC results released, 38,355 students were disqualified from placement because they either got grade 9 in English or Mathematics, and so the total qualified students to be placed in Senior High Schools then came down to 473, 728. Again, this is far less than the number of vacancies that have been declared,” he mentioned.
