The nation-wide Voters Registration Exercise has taken off smoothly as anxious applicants queue early with the hope of securing their voter's identity cards.
The traditional long queues that usually characterized such processes was evident when the Ghana News Agency visited some polling stations, witnessing both young and old waiting patiently for their turn.
Of the over 20 registration centres in the Ablekuma North and Okaikwe South Constituencies for instance, the registration commenced between 0700 hours and 0720 hours.
At Modern College Science registration centre, the process started at 0705 hours and the first person went through the process and got his card in 8 minutes.
Mr Victor Amissah, the Electoral Officer, said everything including the electoral materials and hand washing facilities arrived early adding that “all is intact and the process is moving on smoothly as political party agents were present”.
Prior to the process, he explained that applicants were to provide proof of identification and information such as the right spelling of their names, date of birth,residential address, parents’ name hometown to quicken the process.
