NDC MP for Ketu South has described the ongoing Ghana card and voters registration exercises as ‘potentials for disaster”.
After several unsuccessful attempts by some political parties and Civil Society Organizations to stop the compilation of a new voters' register, the exercise got underway on Tuesday, June 30, 2020.
However, reports from some of the registration centres depicted blatant disregard for Covid-19 safety protocols.
The sheer disregard for the protocols has reignited fears among some Ghanaians, that the EC’s decision to go through with the exercise amid protest from the NDC and other organizations could spell doom for the country’s Covid-19 management.
Speaking on Joy News’ Newsfile, Fiifi Kwetey said that President Akufo-Addo should be blamed for any increase in Ghana’s coronavirus numbers and subsequent deaths.
He bemoaned the silence of Civil Society Organizations and technocrats on what he believes to be wrong things happening in the country.
“We are in very unusual times and we should not in any way seek to rationalize it because when we do so we’ll be rationalizing the death of our own people. Even in developed nations with a high level of awareness, they’ve taken a decision to hide football matches from at empty stadia. Even they have realised that you can take chances”.
“What is going in Ghana today is difficult to understand. Why are institutions and individuals not having the boldness to do what is right? It is largely because institutions and so many people with the capacity speak have decided to keep quiet when wrong things are being done. The last thing you want to do at this time is to have mass events”.
“It is important for many people to speak up. People must voice out and condemn the government for endangering this country. Look at what happened at the NPP rally. What is happening in the country is a potential disaster. The President and his government must be held responsible for whatever we are having,” he said.
The Director of Electoral Services at the EC, Dr, Serebour Qauicoe, on her part, disagreed with the NDC MP, stating that an overwhelming majority of the centres were observing the protocols.
He also urged the registrants to adhere to the protocols.

No wonder, this is purely symptomatic of the NDC youthful, non-issue-based argumentation coming from one of their babies with sharp teeth, the campus mock-politicians. I'm astonished to learn that, such a personality had occupied a position as a Minister of State before. Usually, they tend to use political polemics to hurl insults at their political opponents. Hence, abysmally fall short of debating constructively, factually, and quite often they rather expose their own incompetence. And the main opposition party the NDC has a whole chunk of such inexperienced youthful politicians. Unlike the NDC, the ruling party, NPP tends to foster their youthful talents in the party communal or grassroots politics.
eye mo gyae gyimi ne nkwasea keka no kakra wai
look at this one too. NDC guys are not sharp koraaaa!!!! Propaganda will no more win anyone elections. They should modernise and fight national issues with facts and intelligent ideas and stop insulting intelligent Ghanaians as F££LS!!! As at now, they have not proposed any idea on what they will do for Ghanaians in case they are voted back into power. ***barred word***!!!!!
You went into hiding and now you have resurfaced with your old fashioned politics. Better say we should cancel this year's voting because that they will be only one day for all voters to vote. NDC is exaggerating the no distance protocols just to discredit the EC and the president. Come to Kumasi areas like Anyinam, Agric Junction among others everything is in order. Everybody in a queue is on a chair but people like this make a lot of allegations which they cannot substantiate. Instead of admonishing their followers to abide by the protocols they always attack Nana Addo for nothing. Initially the NDC was saying there is no covid in Ghana and that Akufo Addo wants to chop our money , even when recoveries increased Mahama's aid was not happy and doubting. Mahama instead of donating to the fund created by the president, he was moving from one facility to another with his entourage just to donate PPES and only God knows if those items were tested for efficacy. What did that bogus NDC covid 19 team do?, a total fail not even able to educate NDC Voters. Another area which could be responsible for the rise is NDC needless press conferences almost everyday. You bring your party members and journalist together only to make no relevant point putting lives at risk
No, I will rather blame Mahama for the 235 people who died of Cholera in his presidency because that was not a pandemic but he could not handle. You are a known believer of of juju (Vodu) and it is destroying your thinking capability gradually.
you messed up the agric sector big time with propagander and liees and you come and sit on radio . you are not even shy. you should go into quarantine for 15 yrs. no one needs your opinion any longer , very sorry for you
