Lawyer and Governance expert, Dr Eric Oduro Osae has argued that government did the right thing by honouring late President Jerry John Rawlings with a befitting final funeral rite.
According to him, the constitution demands such treat to any Head of State – hence, government was precise to have buried him despite some family claims that they should have ‘fully’ taken charge.
Speaking on NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’, Dr Oduro Osae noted that nothing stops Rawlings’ family and the party he founded, (NDC) from organizing their funeral as a sign of respect for the former military leader.
“There’s nothing wrong if they also decide to organize their funeral,” he said.
Adding that, “What government did was constitutional because of Rawlings' status as a former President and just not an ordinary person.”
