Private lawyer Ohene Gyan has called on the legislators in Ghana to enact laws that will prohibit any person from being Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual Transgender and Queer Intersex (LGBTQI).
Lawyer Ohene Gyan condemned the advocacy of LGBTQI rights in the country.
The move to establish LGBTQI office in some parts of the Greater Accra Region has courted controversies.
Critics like the Executive Secretary of the National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values, Moses Foh-Amoaning, have described the LGBTQI movement as a criminal activity.
The Christian Council and Islamic community have also spoken against the LGBTQI community.
Speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Lawyer Gyan listed homosexual sex under unnatural carnal knowledge which is a criminal offence in Ghana but however stressed there is no law that specifically addresses homosexuality.
He called on the lawmakers to make a specific law to criminalize homosexuality.
"The laws in Ghana don't permit it; unnatural carnal knowledge is a criminal offence. But I think we have to now enact laws to address issues specifically because when you go into our Criminal Offences Act, it's problematic to get evidence to prosecute people who engage in unnatural carnal knowledge. It's about time we pass specific laws that will proscribe people from manifesting these things," he said.
