The Minister for Works and Housing, Francis Asenso-Boakye has called on Ghanaians to collaborate in the fight against flooding in the country.
A release from the Ministry signed by the sector Minister state that, since 2017, the government under the administration of President Akufo-Addo has invested five hundred and fifty-nine million Ghana cedis (Gh¢10m) in the National Flood Control and Priority Drainage Programme, an initiative in curtailing flood in Ghana during the rainy season.
He stated that the government will continue to invest resources across the country to ensure that flooding challenges are addressed and also build resilience against future flood risk.
He, therefore, entreated Ghanaians to complement the government efforts in dealing with a flood in the country by adhering to proper disposal of waste.
He also advised homebuilders to desist from the practice of paving their compounds entirely by considering the introduction of vegetation in order to reduce the volume of stormwater runoffs from their compounds to the public drainage.
