Commercial transport bus drivers have been asked to suspend their ongoing strike action.
Commercial vehicle drivers today, December 6, refused to convey passengers to protest the recent fuel price increments.
Their action caused many commuters great difficulties to reach their workplaces and various destinations.
A current message from the Ghana Private Road Transport Union of TUC to striking drivers directs them to immediately resume normal duties.
A statement issued by the General Secretary, Godfred Abulbire, says the leadership of the Union has been invited to the Presidency to resolve the drivers' concerns.
"Development will be communicated to the drivers. We therefore entreat our cherished members to go back to their normal duties," a part of the statement read.

Bizarre, why will it take a president to invite striking trotro drivers to a meeting when the signs were clear they were going to strike, if the president heard what commuters were saying this morning he would have hidden his face from the public. Akuffo Addo has wasted a golden opportunity. Infact prior to 2016, Ghanaians had a lot of hope in him and the NPP, unfortunately he together with this appointees have disappointed many. Common reshuffle Akuffo Addo can't do. Why will you keep a minister in a ministry for 5 years . Finance, defense, interior, roads, agriculture, transport, foreign affairs, national security among others. I keep asking whether Akuffo Addo didn't learn anything from former president Kufuor as a cabinet minister. Akuffo Addo is making John Mahama more popular by his actions and inactions. If what is happening in parliament is not enough a lesson for the NPP to learn then it's unfortunate. NPP in power but NDC is dictating the pace. Enthusiasm among NPP supporters is at an all time low, i doubt whether these disappointed supporters will make sacrifices again in 2024. Under Kufuor we saw a vibrant NPP for 8 years and the fact that Akuffo Addo had 49% in 2008 first round of voting tells you the NPP was still the preferred choice. Can Akuffo Addo do same for his successor come 2024, i doubt. Is these same NPP Ghanaians saw from 2001-2008? If elections were to be organized today 6/12/2021 between Akuffo Addo and John Mahama I doubt whether Akuffo Addo will get 30%. The earlier the NPP sit up the better . If NDC wins in 2024 bet me NPP will stay long in opposition. The current NPP leadership both at the level of party and government is a disaster . I pity my party the NPP, oh.
