The ongoing spillage of the Akosombo Dam has displaced over 25,000 people with their properties being destroyed by the floods.
The victims are being assisted by NADMO and the government ensuring they get back on their feet, however, the spillage remains a threat to the residents in the Volta Region.
As the dam keeps filling up and the spillage recurring, there are conversations around how the situation can be utilized to serve a good purpose for Ghana.
In view of this, Nana Akomea has appealed to the government to put the Accra Plains into good use.
Speaking on Peace FM's morning show "Kokrokoo", the STC Chief Executive Officer wondered why the spillage is not diverted to irrigate the Accra Plains.
He implored the government to think about cultivating the Accra Plains which he believes will be very beneficial to the nation.
"Bryan Acheampong is the latest Agricultural Minister. Let's pray that with the year left, he can push the government to start doing something to irrigate the Accra Plains. The land is huge too much to be left fallow," he told host Kwami Sefa Kayi.
Nana Akomea stressed "this has to be a national project" and asked "what do you need to irrigate?"
