The Minister of Finance Designate, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam has assured the habitants of Ashanti region of government’s commitment towards the completion of all stalled projects in the region.
Dr. Amin Adam gave this assurance during a working visit to the Ashanti Region. As part of his visit to the region, the minister designate paid a courtesy call on His Royal Majesty, Otumfour Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene. He also visited the office of the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah.
Dr. Adam highlighted the pivotal role of the Ashanti Region in Ghana’s economic development, hence government’s commitment to building infrastructure.
These include the Kumasi International Airport, the Kejetia Redevelopment Market, and the Mother and Baby Unit at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
Stressing the urgency of attention to these projects, he acknowledged challenges that had hindered their completion and assured swift action.
Dr. Amin Adam said, “But you are also aware that, we have faced some challenges as a result we had to stall for some time, but you also know that His Excellency the President is determined to make sure that these projects are completed for the benefit of our people. He has directed that we pay attention to these projects to bring some urgency and speed to bear on these projects so we can get them completed for people to begin to benefit from these projects.”
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, appealed to the Finance Minister to address the completion of unfinished and suspended projects, specifically the Ahenema-Kokoben and Anhwiankwanta road project.
“The other one that will request of you which I was discussing with your predecessor, we have a road construction from a place called Ahenema-Kokoben to Anhwiankwanta on the Obuasi road.....which was awarded to Kofi Job initially, and later they have to change the drawings. And after the change of drawings you know definitely the estimate ballooned and according to the road minister, the road minister said he needed financial clearance from the Minister of Finance, so I’ll plead you work on that one for us,” he appealed.
The Finance Minister is set to visit the various projects in the region to gather firsthand information about their current status and challenges.

Hey, Mohammed Amin, don't bite more than you can chew ooooo. Can you complete all stalled projects in Ashanti within a space of 10 months. Can the Suame interchange be completed in 10 months even if all the money for the project is sitting at the bank of Ghana? I thought it would have been safer to say all stalled projects in Ashanti will be reactivated. My brother i will advice you thread with caution. I believe you know the meaning of Al-Amin i.e. your name? You have a Herculean task ahead of you as far as Ashanti region is concerned. This is a region that has remained faithful to the NPP all these years to the extent that the votes NPP uses to beat the NDC in the Ashanti region can march up to 9 regions of the NDC out of 16. To hear the Asantehene himself complaining about stalled development projects in his region creates the impression as if the current NPP under Akuffo Addo doesn't appreciate what the Ashanti region means to the NPP . Am for NPP but truth be told. I was sad to see the Asnatehene launching an appeal for funds from well to do people in Ashanti to contribute to enable him fund the refurbishment of the Komfo Anokye teaching hospital at a time the NPP is in power. Unless the president is saying he has gotten what he wanted and care less about a future NPP after his exit. Anyway if some tells you should throw stones at each other, he already has a stone under his feet. If 20% of the voter population in Ashanti fails to turn out for the 2024 elections, disaster for the NPP. Currently people are disappointed , you need to put your ears on the ground to hear what is happening. Mahama is definitely not the alternative but NPP has scored to many own goals and this is what is giving Mahama a lot of hope. We are watching.
