Mrs. Patricia Akpene Tegbe-Agbo, Secretary of the Accra Presbytery Womens Ministry of the Global Evangelical church has called on Ghanaians to remain focused on their chosen professions rather than try to be jack of all trades.

She said in the prevailing global economic downturn it was advisable to adopt diligence, intensified marketing, diversification, outstanding customer service and cutting edge technologies in order to survive the economic crises.

Mrs. Tegbe-Agbo was addressing a one day business seminar organized by the presbytery under the theme: How to Create and Maintain Wealth in an Economic Downturn at the Nungua congregation in Accra.

She observed that most people spent long periods in unproductive telephone conversations, wasteful in the use of utilities, lacked time management and continued to spend on impulse instead of planning and budgeting, saying such people were bound to fail in their businesses.

She therefore advised that business people avoid waste in all their endeavours and plough back an appreciable percentage of their profits into their investments in order to remain in business.

Mrs. Tegbe-Agbo who is also a professional journalist and marketer, said most people try to copy others and resort to quick means of making money instead of painstakingly identifying and harnessing their God-given talents.

There is no short-cut to creating wealth. Even if there were, such wealth would not last. True and long lasting wealth only comes through finding a passion, creating a vision out of it and focusing and putting all it takes to implement and put it into action.

I must be quick to add that it is only God who gives us the ability to produce wealth and the creative ability is given to every human being and not the preserve of some selected few. What one needs to do is to seek Gods direction in acquiring and maintaining wealth, she said.

Mrs Tegbe-Agbo told participants that they could only stay on top if they adopted innovative ways of conducting their business, and also seek new ways to improve on their lot.

Mrs. Gifty Agbavitor, Leader of the Presbytery, earlier in an exhortation urged the participants to take seriously the strategies they would be taught and put them into practice.

In a welcome address, Mrs. Emma Dumenyo, Vice Leader and member of the Nungua congregation, referred to the Biblical saying that whoever sowed in tears, would reap in joy, adding that better times were ahead of us.

The Accra Presbytery of the Global Evangelical Church Womens Ministry comprises over 60 congregations including Mamprobi, Kotobabi, Kasoa, Teshie, Tema, Ashaiman and Madina among others.
