The Western Regional Minister, Hon. Ebenezer Kwadwo Teye Addo, has posited that the church has a strategic role to play in making governance in the country a smooth one.

According to him, the church has a responsibility to help the citizenry in all spheres of life to cushion poverty in the country.

Speaking as the Special Guest at an Induction Service at Tarkwa by the Christian Divine Church, he explained that the church and the state are not two independent components opposing each other, stressing that the two could always work together to bring progress in the lives of every Ghanaian.

The induction service was for the new Chairman of the Christian Divine Church, Apostle Ebenezer Boahene. The church also inducted into office the new Deputy Chairman Pastor Peter Boadu and the General Secretary Pastor Paul Danso at a well organised church service attended by thousands of its members across the country.

In a speech delivered by the Justice of the Sekondi High Court in the person of Justice George Buadi on behalf of the Chief Justice Her Lordship Mrs. Georgina Woode, she stressed the need for Christians to live peacefully among themselves and to avoid using the courts to settle disputes instead of resolving issues amicably among themselves. Her Lordship advised Christians to lead exemplary lives in the society for others to emulate.

The Co-founder of the Church Madam Dorcas Taylor who is 102 years of age attended the function and prayed over the special gown to be worn by the new Apostle.

The Legal Advisor of the church Lawyer Jacob Arko Saah led the new Chairman of the church Apostle Ebenezer Boahene into administering the oath of office. Special prayers were offered to the new officers inducted into office by the Area Head of the Church of Pentecost Apostle Dr. Stephen Baidoo and other Ministers in attendance.

In a sermon delivered by the newly inducted Chairman of Christian Divine Church, Apostle Ebenezer Boahene, he admonished Christians to live peacefully among themselves and to look up to God for all solutions to their problems. He mentioned that disunity and divisions amongst Ghanaians are not helping the nation to develop as it should. Apostle Ebenezer Boahene advised that when Christians eschew vengeance and learn to forgive themselves the good Lord shall bless this nation.

The ceremony saw dignitaries from all walks of life who graced the occasion such as the Inspector General of Police who was represented by ACP Paul Ayitey. Present at the service was the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Hon. Nii Lantey Vanderpuiye; the MCE for the Tarkwa Municipality, Hon. Mrs Christina Cobbina; the High Court Judge for Tarkwa, Justice Kwame Ohene Essel and the Chiefs in the Tarkwa Municipality.
