The Reverend Dr. Nii Noi Odonkor, Ga Presbytery Chairperson, on Saturday told Christians that celebrating Easter is also about hope.

He explained that the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ gave his disciples hope, saying, "Even though the disciples were hoping that Christ would set up an earthly kingdom, he set up a spiritual kingdom which is everlasting."

Rev. Dr. Odonkor said this at the opening of a prayer rally organized by the Mount Moriah Prayer Centre to crown activities marking the Lent Season.

The Lent Season is a period preceding Easter where Christians observe 40 days of fasting and prayers.
The prayer rally brought together hundreds of peoples from the various Presbyterian churches within the Ga Presbytery.

Rev. Odonkor said everything we do as Christians is spiritual, since the kingdom we belong to is a spiritual one, hence the need to have hope in God always.
"As Humans we always have hope for something," he said, and advised Christians to sacrifice for one another, practice forgiveness and always have hope and be united.

"Easter is about sacrifice, sacrifice for one another, forgiveness and hope," he said, and called for unity not just among Christians but among all Ghanaians, saying, we can achieve anything we hope for as a country if we are united.

Rev. Benjamin Ofori, Pastor in charge of the New Life Congregation in Abeka, in a sermon, urged Christians to endeavor to live holy lives and bear good spiritual fruits like love, peace, joy and self control.

"We must have a passion for the word of God," he said, stressing on the need for people to give their lives wholly to God.

Rev. Daniel Ayim, Leader of the Mount Moriah Prayer Centre, led the congregation to pray for the nation, families and individuals.

The Mount Moriah Prayer Centre at Danfa is the prayer retreat centre for the Ga Presbytery.
