The Reverend Dr Anokye Nkansah, 56, has been inducted into office as the new Chairperson for the Asante Akyem Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, at Juaso near Konongo.
Rev Dr Anokye Nkansah, immediate past Director of Education and General Manager of Presbyterian Schools at the head office of the Church, succeeds Rev Kwaku Twum Barima whose tenure ended in August 2016.
Preaching the sermon, the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Right Rev Professor Cephas Omenyo Narh, tasked Christians to take-up responsibilities of ensuring that the unadulterated gospel is preached and the good news of salvation becomes the pivot of all messages.
He said in recent times some people who called themselves men of God are preaching and doing things contrary to what the scripture says.
The Moderator said the lives of Christians should be living testimonies of what authentic Christian faith and practice is and impact greatly on Christians.
He urged the new Presbytery Chairperson to ensure that during his tenure of office more people would come to know Christ than ever before and cautioned him against anything that could bring the name of Jesus Christ and Christianity in general into disrepute.
The Right Rev Omenyo advised the new Presbytery Chairperson to sow seeds of evangelism and love among the congregations.
He called on the people to support the chairperson to succeed and raise the image of the Presbytery at all levels.
Rev Dr Anokye Nkansah in an address thanked the Church members and the people of Asante Akyem for the confidence reposed in him and pledged that he would work hard to ensure that the Presbytery moves from the current status to another higher level.
Rev Anokye Nkansah commended former the chairpersons of the Presbytery for his dedication and exemplary leadership, which had made the Presbytery as it is now.
He promised to implement the mission, vision, strategy and development plans of the Presbytery, and to promote evangelism to win more souls for Christ.
He urged Christians to let their life styles reflect that of Christ.
The new chairperson is a product of Trinity Theological Seminary, Legon-Accra where he obtained a Diploma in Theology, University of Ghana, Legon-Accra where he had his first degree, Princeton Theological Seminary, Princeton, New Jersey-USA, Masters in Theology, and New York Theological Seminary, New York City, Doctor of Ministry.
