Sixteen people lost their lives tragically in a motor accident, thirteen (13) of them on the spot, and three more others at the Interbeton (Central Regional) Hospital, when an Articulator truck, crashed headlong into a 33 Seater Benz Bus at Ataabadze, near Elmina, on the Accra-Cape Coast-Takoradi road.
The Articulator truck with registration number AN 6091 N, was heading to Takoradi from Accra, whiles the 33 Seater Benz Bus, with registration number GR 9182 E, was on its way to Accra from Takoradi.
According to Kwabena Marfo, a reporter of EAGLEFM in Cape Coast, an affiliate station of PEACEFM, who paid a visit to some of the survivors at the Interbeton Hospital, most of the survivors are still unconscious.
The Director of the Hospital, Dr. Sabeng, in an interview with Kwabena Marfo, said the dead include 10 men, 5 women and 1 female child.
19 people including 10 men, 8 women and i male child, sustained various body injuries and are on admission at the Hospital
Details of the incident are still sketchy as all survivors he spoke to claim they were asleep when the accident occurred.
In a related development, the Central Regional Minister, Hon Ama Benyiwaa-Doe, has visited the survivors to commiserate with them.
