Thousands of Muslims on Monday converged at the Tema Sports Stadium and said prayers to mark Eid-Ul-Fitr.

Alhaji Salley Iddrisu Sika, Acting Chief Imam of Tema who led the prayers, said Ghanaians were honoured to celebrate Eid that coincided with the birthday of First President Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

Alhaji Sika advised Muslims to lead exemplary lives, reminding them that “Ramadan admonishes us to love one another”.

He appealed to them to use the occasion to share the little they have with their less privileged neighbours since it was the essence for which the Eid-Ul-Fitr Festival was instituted by Allah.

Mr Robert Kempes Papa Nii Ofosuware, Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, said the government was putting in place workable mechanisms to ensure an incident-free Hajj this year.

Ahmad Boaheng, Tema Circuit President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, led the Ahmadis in prayers at the Mission’s Regional Headquarters at Community Five.

Prayers were said for Allah’s guidance and protection for the leaders of the country.
