Police Public Relations oOffcer of the Ashanti Region, Chief Inspector Yussif Mohammed Tanko, told the Daily Graphic yesterday that Nyarkoa lived with her mother at Aboabo Number Two.

The incident happened when Nyarkoa’s mother had left for the market to sell bread. She was subsequently arrested.

According to Chief Inspector Tanko, during interrogation, the young woman explained that any time she saw the baby, ‘something’ told her to cut it throat. Consequently, Nyakoa was arraigned and remanded imprison custody. Meanwhile the remains of the baby have been deposited at the New Edubiase Hospital morgue for autopsy.
