Two sisters who committed various environmental offences were on Friday committed to a total fine of GHC 120.00 by the Suhum Magistrate Court, presided over by Miss Kokuvie-Tay.

Hilda Ofeibea and Maa Abena who were arrested on bench warrant, would in default go to jail for five months in hard labour.

The convicts who were charged for failing to dispose of refuse on their premises pleaded guilty

Mr Raymond Agbodo, Principal Environmental Health Officer, in charge of Suhum Kraboa Coaltar District, prosecuting, told the court that on October 31, Health Inspectors on their normal rounds, entered the premises of the convicts and detected the offence.

Miss Kokuvie-Tay, before passing sentence expressed worry about the behaviour of people who insult health Inspectors.

She said environmental health Inspectors were there to perform their duties to ensure that people keep their surroundings clean so as to avoid the out-break of epidemic.

She warned that any offender brought before her would not be spared.
