Mrs. Augusta Okantey, Volta Regional Statistician, on Monday gave the assurance that data to be collected through the 2010 Population and Housing Census would not be for tax purposes.
She said the information would be critical references to ensure equity in the distribution of resources and for measuring the success or otherwise of national development programmes.
Mrs. Okantey, who was speaking to GNA on the impending census in Ho, said "as you cannot manage anything without measurement, government cannot do anything without census data."
She said people would not travel to their hometowns to be enumerated.
Mrs Okantey said that the Ghana Statistical Service was taking stringent measures to ensure the success and credibility of the 2010 census.
She said those who wished to be engaged by the Service as enumerators could download the application forms online.
Mrs Okantey appealed to the media to help disabuse the minds of the public about any misconceptions regarding the census.
