The Kpando District Assembly on Tuesday distributed remnants of Ghana @50 T-Shirts after it passed a resolution to dispose of the items. The decision to dispose of the items was taken at the Assemblys ordinary meeting last Friday.
Members said the stock had become a burden on the Assembly and needed urgently to clear the store. The Assembly members said due to fallouts from the Jubilee paraphernalia, disposal of the items must meet legal processes so nobody suffers for it in future.
Mr Francis Ganyaglo, Kpando District Chief Executive, said the Assembly would want to tread cautiously to avoid being sued in the future. He said inasmuch as the items remained in stock of the Assembly, it became its property, hence the resolution.
Mr Ganyaglo said the Assembly was saddled with the controversy of continuity of contracts and payment regimes emanating from the Jubilee projects. He said the district could only boast of an uncompleted school project at the Kpando Gabi DA Primary.
Mr Ganyaglo said the contractor alleged non-payment and the Assembly has not taken any decision on the project yet.
