The chief of Tarkwa-Bremang in the Prestea/ Huni Valley District, Nana Kwesi Boadi II, 58, has been remanded in police custody for one week by a Tarkwa circuit court for firing a gun in the open at Wassa Anyinabrem that resulted in the death of a one-year-old child, Bless Tetteh, and three others sustaining injuries.

He pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on December 5.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Edward Paddy told the court presided over by Mr. Samuel Obeng Diawuo that on November 26 the accused attended the funeral of Nana Appiah Dwaah II at Wassa Anyinabrem near Ateiku.

He said during the funeral, as tradition demanded, there was firing of musketry by other chiefs to honor the late chief.

The prosecutor said a catridge from Nana Kwesi Boadi's gun hit one Victoria Kwao, 32, and her baby Bless, Emmanuel Bortey, a 14-year-old Junior High School student and George Kwetey, 38.

The victims were taken to hospital but Bless was pronounced dead on arrival and the remaining three victims were referred to the Cape Coast Interbertin Hospital for further treatment.

Inspector Paddy said the injured are still on admission and are responding to treatment.
