The Eastern Regional Police Command has destroyed a four and a half acre farm of plants suspected to be Indian hemp in the Yilo Krobo District.
The farms were located at Pleyo-Nyewer, Sikaben and Boti Falls.
This was contained in a statement issued in Koforidua and signed by Chief Inspector Yaw Nketia-Yeboah.
The statement said based on a tip-off, a team, which was led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Omari Anim, arrived at the farms, weeded and sprayed herbicides on the suspected hemp plants.
The statement said though the inhabitants of the communities claimed to be unaware of the farms so no arrest was made, the Police was making enquires to get the owners of the farms arrested.
The statement warned those who involved in Indian hemp cultivation to desist from such activities avoid being arrested and prosecuted.
