The Northern Regional Command of the Ghana Armed Forces has justified the ongoing demolition of some houses at the Kamina Barracks in Tamale of the Northern region.
Over 50 houses have been earmarked for demolition. Some residents are reported to have encroached on a land belonging to the Ghana Armed Forces.
Some of them who spoke to Citi News admitted being given a prior notice ahead of the demolition.
They, however, claim the case is still in court and so did not expect the exercise to commence anytime soon.
However, the Public Relations Officer for the Sixth Garrison at the Kamina Barracks, Lieutenant Maxwell Asula told Citi News that the exercise will continue unabated.
We have been able to shift the pillars backwards reducing the land from about three different locations, but this time we dont think we can go any further than to demolish buildings of those who have refuse to recognize that this is military grounds, he insisted.
