The Accra Regional Police Command has warned the public against organizing public events without notifying the police.
The warning comes days after a group calling itself Let My Vote Count held a rally in the Dome-Kwabenya constituency last Sunday without notification to the police.
The group organized the gathering to rally support for the petition filed by the 2012 Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akuffo Addo and two others against the Presidential results of last Decembers polls.
A statement signed by the Accra Regional Commander, Commissioner of Police (COP) Patrick Timbilla, released in Accra, said such acts contravene the Public Order Act (Act 491, 1994).
While the police is considering punitive actions against organizers of the event, it reminded the public on the need to work within the ambits of the law.
