An Accra Circuit Court on Monday handed a 35-year prison term to Derrick Tetteh, a driver, for attempting to rob.
The Court presided over by Mr Francis Obiri, sentenced Tetteh on his own plea, saying robbers did not deserve mercy as their activities scared investors from investing in the country.
The Prosecutor, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Patrick Morkeh told the court that the complainant is a cook and works at the V.I.P Restaurant at Dansoman.
He said about 0430 hours on April 7, 2013 when the complainant was going to work Tetteh approached her and ordered her to give him her bag.
The prosecution said, when the complainant refused, an accomplice of the accused, now at large, appeared from his hideout with a cutlass.
The complainant started to shout for help and with the assistance of the people living in the area the accused person was arrested and handed over to the Police.
