Subsequently, the Police intensified its patrols and also mounted surveillance cameras at vantage points in the city.
Speaking to Citi News, the Public Relations Officer for the Ashanti Regional Police Command, ASP Mohammed Tanko indicated that acts of violence have since reduced considerably. According to him, their visibility and accessibility program has led to eminent gains.
“Nowadays, when we look at the crime trends, you would see that they are dropping very fast … so I think in all we are making headway,” he said.
Meanwhile, some residents in Kumasi have called on the Police not to relent in its efforts to rid the region of criminals.
“Now that they have arrested the armed robbers, I believe that it is good but I don’t feel too safe although it is a good start, so I pray that the police arrest all of them. Let’s pray that they arrest all of them so that we can sleep in peace,” a resident in Kumasi said.
