The committee overseeing the first anniversary celebration of the death of President John Evans Atta Mills has requested individuals and corporate entities to “direct enquiries concerning contributions and donations to the Secretariat of the Planning Committee which is located at the State Protocol Office, State House, Accra.”
A statement issued by the Spokesperson of the Funeral Planning Committee, Koku Anyidoho, said: “Those wishing to make contribution by cheque should make it payable to the (Atta Mills) Funeral Planning Committee.”
All contributions and donations will be publicly acknowledged, it stated.
The late President Mills passed on July 24, 2013 at the 37 Military Hospital after a short illness.
The anniversary celebration begins on Sunday, July 21, 2013 with a choral concert at the National Theatre to mark his 69th birthday.
The next day will see the first of an annual lecture series to be held in his memory. It will be held at the Accra International Conference Center.
A special remembrance ceremony will be held at the Asomdwee Park on Wednesday, July 24.
