The Ghana Federation of the Disabled has cautioned Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to desist from borrowing from their two percent share of the disability common fund.
The guideline governing the disbursement of the common fund states that, borrowing from the disability fund is a violation.
President of the Ghana Federation of the Disabled Yaw Ofori Debra in an interview with Citi News said recent reports indicated that monies borrowed from its share had not been paid back.
According him, the situation has affected the living conditions of persons with disability.
He therefore appealed to the MMDAs in the various districts who borrowed from the fund, to pay back all monies since it had denied persons with disability their portion of the common fund.
The common fund was set up to support the income generating activities of persons with disabilities, as a means of economic empowerment and also to provide educational support for students with disabilities.
