Ghanaians have been urged to prepare for this weekend’s partial hybrid solar eclipse.

Ghana and other parts of West Africa will on Sunday, November 3, experience the natural phenomenon. A partial hybrid solar eclipse is a stellar spectacle where there is a maximum partial covering of the sun by the moon.

It will happen at 22 minutes past 1 pm that day. Barring any rains or cloudy weather, Ghanaians will see the normal afternoon sunny light bring dimmed for about one-and-half minutes.

About 80 to 85 percent of the sun’s face would be covered by the Moon.

A member of the Africa Astronomical Society, Professor Emmanuel Amamoo-Otchere, said Ghanaians must not forget to wear their eyeshades when watching the phenomenon.
