The Ashanti Regional Police Command has started investigation into the sale of some unregistered drugs by the pharmacy division of the Kama Group of Companies headed by Dr Agyekum Addo, newly elected Board Chairman of the Ghana Investment Promotion Council (GIPC).
Some of the drugs included Today vaginal contraceptive, Lonart (an anti-malaria drug) and some blood tonics.
The authorities say they had a tip off that led to the locking up of the pharmacy in Kumasi.
Vigil Eshun, the Regional Director of the Food and Drugs Authority in the region told XYZ News that they are investigating to find out how they got unregistered products into the country.
We realized that they were selling unregistered pharmaceutical products so we decided to lock them up and investigate how they got those products into the country.
