Twin sisters aged four have been crushed to death by a building that collapsed on them during a heavy downpour in the Suhum Municipality of the Eastern region.
The twins were sleeping in the same mud house with their parents and other siblings when the 70-year-old weakened clay house caved in during the storm and instantly killed them.
Six others who were in the room escaped with some injuries and have been taken to the hospital. The accident occurred at a village called Abenabo, a few miles away from the Suhum Township.
A large swathe of the major market in the municipality was also decimated by the floods. Many buildings were submerged and scores of people have been displaced.
The Municipal Chief Executive Samuel Kwabi said the submerged buildings were put up on water ways.
