Dr Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, Chief Executive of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), has presented a generator worth 127,000 Ghana cedis to the Mamprobi Polyclinic to assist in effective healthcare delivery.
He also presented a brand new ambulance with all the necessary life-saving gadgets to respond to emergency cases in the community.
In an address, Dr Vanderpuije said the initiative was under the Better Ghana Policy on health and was an indication of the government’s commitment in supporting health facilities in the country.
He said the AMA and the government and other development partners would continue to focus on moving affordable quality health services closer to the people.
He urged the hospital staff to work hard towards the improvement of the health of the people.
Dr Linda Vanotoo, Greater Accra Regional Director of Medical Services, who received the equipment on behalf of the hospital, expressed gratitude to the AMA and the government.
She said the equipment would greatly enhance the quality of healthcare delivery within the Ablekuma South area to ease the pressure on the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
Dr Vanotoo regretted that although the cholera pandemic has reduced, but the filth is still around and urged the community members to be ambassadors of change to ensure disease-free area.
Mr Fritz Baffour, Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South said the Mamprobi Polyclinic is on the heart of the government and assured that everything possible would be done to upgrade it.
Dr Ahmed Zakariah, Director of the National Ambulance Service charged the medical staff to use the equipment to provide quality health delivery to the people.
