The Kaneshie District Police Command is looking for a group of irate youth on motorbike who assaulted a police Chief Inspector Edward K. Nyewan of the Police Visibility Patrol Unit at the Police Headquarters.
The unidentified assailants were believed to be going to the Awudome cemetery to bury a colleague.
The assailants seized Chief Inspector Nyewan�s police metal baton which they used to crush his head before damaging his windscreen, and driving mirrors.
Chief Inspector Nyewan, has been issued with a medical form to go to the Police. Hospital for treatment.
The Kaneshie Police Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Florence Senam Adiku said his men would do everything in their power to arrest the perpetrators, because this lawlessness was becoming too rampant.
Chief Inspector Nyewan in an interview, said, he went to the Commercial Bank at the North Industrial Area (NIA) to withdraw some money but saw that, the assailants had blocked the road.
He said, when he asked them to do the right thing by giving way to traffic to flow, they pounced on him and assaulted him.
Chief Inspector Nyewan said when he ran to his colleagues on guard duty at the bank for help, they looked on helplessly, while he was being assaulted.
