REV DANIEL Tetteh Siaw, a 32-year-old pastor of the House of Promise Church International at Ashaiman, has been shot by gunmen suspected to be armed robbers, in his residence at Washington, near Ashaiman in the Kpone-Katamanso District of the Greater Accra Region.

The robbers, who allegedly held the pastor and his family hostage, were said to have shot his knee through a trapdoor after forcibly breaking into his house.

A six-year-old daughter who was reportedly traumatized after she was held at gun point to lead the robbers to the bedroom of her parents, is said to have been asked to see a psychologist.

Rev. Siaw was initially rushed to the Tema General Hospital for medical attention but was later referred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital due to the extent of damage caused to the knee cap.

The armed robbers, who were said to be numbering about four, allegedly ransacked the house and made away with properties worth thousands of Ghana Cedis, including the pastor’s wife’s wedding ring and unspecified amount of money before they vanished into a nearby bush.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Emmanuel T. Yankah, Crime Officer of the Ashaiman District Police Headquarters, confirmed the attack on the pastor to DAILY GUIDE when contacted, but explained that it was too early to comment on the issue.

Rev. Siaw, speaking to DAILY GUIDE from his hospital bed, disclosed that on April 15, 2014 about 1:30 am he heard an unusual noise in his house and quickly came out of his bedroom to the living room to ascertain what was transpiring.

According to him, he spotted some gunmen forcing the door to the residence open.

According to him, he raised an alarm and his neighbours came out but could not get closer to the attackers because most of them were wielding guns.

He said after the robbers had gained access into his apartment, he decided to open the trapdoor upon the suspected robbers’ instruction when one of them standing in a distance, fired his knee.

As at press time, the Lebanon Police Station, where the case was reported, had assigned an investigator to the scene to commence investigation into the matter.
