An appeal has been placed before the doorstep of the minister in charge of Foreign Affairs to keep an eagle eye and impress upon some foreign consuls to handle Ghanaian passports with “respect”.
Mr. Hopeson Adorye made this call when he spoke to Peacefmonline.com in an interview to address issues about the habitual disrespect of some foreign missions towards properties of government.
He suggested that the habit of stamping booklets even after a Ghanaian has been refused entry into a country must immediately be abolished.
According to him, the above practice is appalling, and contributes to the reason some Ghanaian nationals possessed more than one passport at a time.
He explained that it is unnecessary to stamp booklets of Ghanaians refused entry into any countries. He therefore advised Madam Hanna Serwaa Tetteh to act tough just like Nana Akufo-Addo did when he once served as the minister in charge of Foreign affairs.
Mr. Adorye revealed that one measure Nana Akufo- Addo set in place was to direct all foreign embassies not to stamp the pass of any Ghanaian they collected monies from and refused visa to. Although he was upset about the practice, he commended the USA Embassy for being the only mission to distinguish itself from the habitual “appalling” practice of the others.
