Dr Samuel Asiamah, the Director of Medical Affairs of the Korle-Bu Polyclinic, has commended the Metropolitan Chief Executive, Dr Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, for supporting the facility.
The Mayor assisted the Polyclinic with 10,000 Ghana cedis to support the construction of specialized ward and two toilet facilities for cholera patients.
He also donated five wheel chairs at the cost of 2,800 Ghana cedis to the institution.
Dr Asiamah told the GNA in an interview that the urgent intervention by the Mayor helped the polyclinic to contain the disease and appealed for the construction of another isolation ward to accommodate patients being transferred to the Polyclinic.
Dr Asiamah called on non-governmental organization to also support the facility in diverse ways to facilitate the treatment of patients.
Dr Vanderpuije praised the doctors and other health professionals for providing quick services to the cholera patients and promised to donate hospital equipment to them to ease its challenges.
