Papaya Fast Food Company has denied claims by the Tema Central Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party that he was assaulted by land guards on a parcel of land it has acquired in Tema Community 7.
Charles Boateng sustained serious injuries after he was attacked by the land guards Sunday afternoon for question their activity.
The land in question is used as centre for social gathering by residents but the Tema Municipal Assembly and the Tema Development Corporation have allegedly sold it to Papaye.
In an interview with Adom News, Chief Executive Officer of Papaye, Divine Kwadwo Asiedu said the NPP Chairman sustained minor injury as a result of a scuffle with one of the guards.
He maintained that the company acquired legally from the appropriate quarters hence cannot be held liable for anything.
Divine Asiedu added that Papaye is ready for any legal suit should the residents consider that option. Meanwhile, residents in Tema Community 7 who spoke to Adom FMs regional correspondent, Isabella Gidiglo have vowed to resist any attempt to convert their recreation centre into a restaurant.
The Assembly man for the area, Emmanuel Kwame Nyarko also hinted of a class action should the company disregard their call to stop the construction.
