The police in the Asante Akyem North District in the Ashanti Region have mounted a search for a woman whose name has been given only as Ayisha in connection with the murder of Daniel Yaw Tweneboah Koduah, a popular tailor in Agogo in the Ashanti Region.
The body of Koduah was found in the bush early last Saturday, January 10, 2015.
Koduah, who was also a polling executive of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Agogo, was found lying supine in an area known as Pan African at Hwidiem, near Agogo.
The 37-year-old man, believed to have been Ayisha’s boyfriend at Juansa in the Asante Akyem Central Municipality, was said to have visited the woman the night before his death.
According to the police, Ayisha already had two children with another man and the police believed that the children’s father, in collaboration with others, might have murdered Koduah.
Preliminary examination of the body, the police said, revealed that there were no marks on it, but the white T-shirt which Koduah wore over his trousers had been pulled to the feet level.
According to the Konongo Divisional Commander of Police, Chief Superintendent (C/Supt) Mr Alex Amenyo, the police suspected foul play.
Cause of death
He said they believed the perpetrators might have strangled Koduah to death, but was quick to add, “We can’t confirm that as of now.”
Mr Amenyo said around 8 a.m. last Saturday, January 10, 2015, Stephen Toda, a brother of the deceased, and two other family members lodged a complaint at the Agogo Police Station that Koduah’s body had been found lying in the bush.
He said when the police went to the scene and examined the body, they realised that it was stiff, an indication that it had been there for some time.
He said the police also found Koduah’s mobile phone, a GH˘10 note and his motorbike keys, while the motorbike had been abandoned at Obuasi, 400 metres away from where the body lay.
Mr Amenyo said a witness in the case told the police that on the eve of the incident, Koduah had told him (witness) that he was going to Juansa to visit Ayisha.
He said since the incident, Ayisha had left her house at Juansa and was suspected to be hiding in Accra.
