The Kumasi Central Market was on Friday evening gutted by fire.
Citi News correspondent Laurreta Tima reported that the fire started around 5:30pm. She said, The fire gutted two shops and a three-storey building, where there was an MTN wholesale office as well as other shops.
Lauretta added that personnel from the fire service moved swiftly to the market when they were called and managed to put out the fire.
She said the cause of the fire is not yet known. The Kumasi Central market has over the years recorded a number of fire cases. In most of the cases, properties and goods worth thousands of Ghana cedis were destroyed.
