Police in the Upper East Region are on a manhunt for an unidentified person who reportedly opened fire on a group of people near Gingande in Bawku last night.
One person was shot in both arms, legs and ribs during the shootout, police say.
The Bawku Divisional Police Commander Chief Superintendent, Tefutor Kaletsi said his outfit is unable to tell what necessitated the shooting but said search for the assailant is underway.
He was confident the gunman would be arrested by close of Thursday.
Police and military presence in the area has also been increased to ward off criminals and similar incidents.
Tefutor Kaletsi said the wounded man is responding to treatment at the Bawku Presbyterian Hospital.
The police is also embarking on a search in the area to seize weapons from residents.
